Fairfax Va. (GS) Fairfax County Police in the US state of Virginia has charged a 28-year-old man with second-degree murder for the killing of a man in the Bailey’s Crossroads section of the County.
In a statement released by the Fairfax County Police Department, (FCPD), one of the suspects that were caught on a surveillance camera at the apartment where the homicide took place has been identified as Phil Asare Darkwah.
After being on the run for several days after the murder, FCPD says Phil Asare Darkwah turned himself into the custody of County law enforcement officials over the weekend on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
The victim, Ahmed Hemoh, 26, according to police was shot and killed on Sunday, October 30, inside his own apartment on the 3rd floor of the Skyline Towers high-rise apartment complex at Bailey’s Crossroads at the 5500 block on Seminary Road.
Initially, photographs of three suspects were published by the FCPD. It is not clear if the other 2 persons who appeared in the police photo alert have been apprehended or whether they had any direct connection to the Killing of Hemoh.
The Skyline Towers apartment complex is a mixed-use property comprising highrise apartments, shopping centers, and restaurants. A significant number of residents who call Skyline Towers home are many African immigrants from Ethiopia, and Western Africa, and people of middle eastern descent.
The relationship between Phil Asare Darkwah and the victim was not disclosed by the FCPD. The suspect is of Ghanaian descent and this has generated a lot of discussions among the Ghanaian community in the Northern Virginia Metro area.
